Meet your doctor!

As of July 2011 Dr Kimberly Richter has become the principal chiropractor of our clinic. Dr. Kimberly is a passionate chiropractor and her knowledge and skills are fantastic assets to this clinic.

Dr. Kimberly's decision to become a chiropractor began after working with several chiropractors while in university, and fits nicely with her caring personality and genuine desire to help people reach their optimal level of health. She saw how much other chiropractors were able to help people using only their hands - there was no need for medications or other invasive therapies. They also truly enjoyed their work, which is somewhat of a rare thing to find. Every patient that comes in is unique, so that keeps every day fun and interesting. As being healthy is not merely the absence of disease, she advocates a holistic view of health incorporating nutrition and stress management into her chiropractic care.

Dr. Kimberly grew up in Yellow Grass, Saskatchewan, Canada, and has arrived in Australia after completing eight years of post-secondary education. Her education includes her Doctor of Chiropractic Degree from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in Toronto, preceded by her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from the University of Waterloo. She is certified in additional therapeutic procedures, including her diploma in Contemporary Medical Acupuncture from McMaster University and Active Release Technique.

Upon arrival to Australia, Dr. Kimberly practiced in Newcastle, NSW for six months, treating patients of all ages with varying conditions. During this time, she was fortunate enough to be able to volunteer her skills to surfers at Surfest, a premier surfing competition attracting competitors from all over the world. After working in a family practice in Townsville for one year, she decided to move down the coast to practice in Kallangur.

In April of 2009, Dr. Kimberly had the privilege of travelling to Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, with a group of 11 of her peers on a Chiropractors Without Borders mission (www.chiropractiquesansfrontieres.ca) where she was given the opportunity to treat an extremely vast range of conditions in a population of largely underprivileged patients. The group treated everyone who made the trip to their locations, from babies to individuals who "stopped counting their birthdays once they reached 100". The experience greatly enhanced her strong belief in, and passion for, her work as it allowed her to see first hand the effects of chiropractic care in a completely unbiased population.
